- Design, development and verification of Electric Machines (Motors/ Alternators) for industrial and traction application of rail vehicles & EV using analytic calculations and Software Tools.
- Electric machines: BLDC, IM, PMSM, IPM motors, Alternators & new technologies.
- Electrical engineering focus on the electromagnetic motor design.
- Failure analysis of Development, Testing and performance evaluation.
- Developing Motors along with Production team.
- Documentation of motor design.
- Characterize machine performance for basic sizing and performance estimations for various voltage range and power ratings, using analytical tools. Trade-off studies to identify motor topology.
- Electromagnetic and Thermal analysis of Electric machines.
- Analysis and validation of designs with FEA calculations.
- Analysis and optimization with equations and FEA on thermal and electromagnetic modelling.
- Bench-marking of Electrical machines for Industrial, Rail Vehicle & Electric Vehicle applications
- Assistance for Motor controller development providing necessary electric machine data for the Controller development.
- Continuously evaluate new technologies and design improvements to develop the most power dense, efficient, low cost, and reliable electric motor.
- Ownership of components from concept, design, testing, validation, and production release and support.
- Internal and external presentation of project results.
- Close cooperation with internal development departments, customers and suppliers.
Skills to have :
- 10 years of experience in design & development of electrical rotating machines
- B.Tech/ ME/ M.Tech/ Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering/Electric Machine / Drive design from reputed university.
- Good knowledge of IEC
- Manual Calculation/Motor CAD/Ansys Maxwell/Altair FLUX.
- Good knowledge of IEC, NEMA, IEEE, IS standards for Design and testing of Electric machine sizing and design as per relevant standards.
- Thorough with Electric machine design programs
- Knowledge of Insulation scheme Selection for various Voltage ratings
- Electrical & thermal FEA preferred.
- Traction machine control methods, implementation and testing
- 2D and 3D magnetic FEA required
- Strong Theoretical Knowledge in Electric machine sizing and design as per IEC standards
- Collaboration with supply chain, vendor and manufacturing engineers.
